OK this just happened to me a little while ago. But when I closed down the site when a pop over came up it constantly reopened the site in a new window. Also, for some reason my earlier avatar wasn't showing up on one PC, but it works on another though. In any case I just wanted some of you guys to know this. Since I'm not sure if I'm the only one that experienced it her yet.

Although it could be just the laptop I was using at this time this happened.

Is this popup an advertisement? If so, can you tell us what the offending ad was? Maybe daft can kill it. The popups used to give me problems, as a lot of them would cause my Firefox browser to crash. At least that was for Firefox 2, not sure if the same problem occurs for Firefox 3.

In short it will be helpful if you told us what browser you use and what popup causes the site to reopen. I would also advice you scan your computer for any spyware; you might have picked up something from outside this site.

As for you avatar problem try clearing your cache. That could sort things out.

To be more specific its malware that starts the reopening of pages.

I'm not sure what the pop over ad was, but after closing the page down it reopened the fansub.tv hope page again and again, until I locked the laptop down. In any case it hasn't done that after I restarted the laptop. So I was wondering if that was a fluke or what. Also, it was the first time it ever did that to me as well. Also, to clarify things I was using IE7 when this happened. Also, the laptop is fairly new, and it even has the McAfee protection system on it. So I have no idea about that at all though. Although, it could of been something my mother did, but that's just a guess since she uses that thing more then I do though.

As for the avatar setup it wouldn't show it at all when I was on the boards though on that laptop only. Although it like the site had it problems as well though, with that issue.

I would advice using Firefox (or any other browser) as IE7 is not secure anyway. I also use McAfee so that shouldn't be causing you the problems. If worst comes to worst, just install the Adblock Add-on for FireFox. That will surely stop the popup.

As a bit of extra safety, I would scan your laptop for malware/spyware. Get Ad-Aware or Spybot (they are both free programs). Those programs should remove any malicious software that could have caused this problem.

You know, this weekend I had problems seeing peoples' avatars. I thought it was just my computer being rubbish or some server-related issue. In any case the problem resolved itself. If you had problems seeing your avatar and they are now gone perhaps it was because the site was being dodgy. That's the best piece of advice I can offer on this matter.

Well if that was the case maybe the site being that dodgy was why it happened, since it never happened to me before though. In any case it usually had it where my avitar would work over the weekend, and then it wouldn't work at all. The reason for that is because I uploaded it straight from my PC. Although I did it again for this one, at least this time it works still.

I'll scan the laptop when I get a chance to use it, but I'm not installing anything else on it since it's not just mine but my mother's as well. I was just using it to mention a few things about some series I saw, and d/l'ed from this site only.

Ok I scanned my laptop the other day and it picked up nothing at all. For all I know it could of been a fluke. Never the less I've overheard that this is a common thing to happen to people here every now and again. I kind of wonder is it worth having a popover setup if it's going to cause problems that are something like this or worse.

Well since Kid hasnt done this already and hasnt reported back. Thread closed. Kid if you want this opened again then do so.

Yeah it seems that it was merely a fluke. Although I think it was taken care of anyways. Although I haven't had that kind of a problem as of late now. So it seems it was one of those odd moments where something didn't go right or something like that. In any case I just wanted to let yo uguys know that and re-lock this thread.
