Not really a problem, but I just wanted to know if anyone else is seeing the link on this page:
http://boards.fansub.tv/?showtopic=3397&st=40&#entry268938
I have tried clicking on it yet though

I can also only see it on that page for that user only too

Here's what I'm seeing if no one understands:

Haha, I actually have noticed the button before in the past, so yes. That said, I'm not sure why it only appears for posts made by people without a title (e.g. I only see report option for kyutmagic10171, but not for Clowd, Dayokun, or myself).
I believe it might have been implemented in response to some suggestions made in the past - see my post in the 'Preset Moderator Response' thread in the Restricted Area for example.

But then it's weird how it's not on everyone who doesn't have a title. I checked in the Anime Christmas Gallery thread just to check it out and see if I could find more report buttons and I found this:

I believe since they are a new user there is a report button just in case they are posting stuff that would be seen as spam. That way spammer accounts can be dealt with more easily.

I don't see too much use for it since there is a spam reporting thread and enough mods to go around for the most part.

[off-topic] I'd really like to see the delete button come back though [/off-topic]

@Barbobot: It could be that the report button was added at a time between when those two posts were made or the first person had been there longer or posted more.

If that was the case then dam. That would have been pretty lucky to find an example in the apparent 3 month time span when it was initiated. But there are posts made in 2009 in the Ecchi 4 thread that don't have it either. Seems kinda random. Either that or it's just one of Daft's secret experiments he's been working on in the shadows off and on.

Agree about the delete button. Been deleting a bunch of double posts lately (most likely caused by boo boo page).

Well I think the report button is to see if the FTV Member can take care of a situation so I tried it once.

Also, yes the Delete Button needs to make a comeback since every now and again someone is going to make a double post by accident.

langes01x, I agree with you and Barbo-san, the delete button went missing without so much as a why. I noticed if I accidently, double post because of the mysterious Boo-boo ghost, it is annoying that we ourselves, cannot take care of it but have to go looking for a Mod to get to it. Ah well...perhaps, the powers-that-be may reconsider, who knows.

As for the report button...amusing, but insignificant imo.

The report button only shows up when a user has got 0 post count. If you take a look in the troublshoot section, of which i dont think post count goes up, there are plenty of guests and users with the report button. If you click the report button your presented with a window and some instructions by the side. CODE
Please note: The moderator will be made aware of the link to the post and the topic title.

This form is to be used ONLY for reporting objectional content, etc and is not to be used as a method of communicating with moderators for other reasons.

So thats why theres a report button XD.

Now onto the delete button. I too would like to see it make a return but i asked Daft about it and he said he will be taking double posting away altogether so i guess just make do with it for now. XD

That could be good and bad. Chances are it will do more good than harm though.

Is that really true? Sometimes there are legitimate reasons to making double posts. As long as there are 24 hours between posts there is no harm... That aside, I can name 4 examples were a ban on double posting is a REALLY bad idea.
  • License anime thread - Without double posting Kit-Tsukasa can no longer update us on new licensed series. At least not in a effective manner (no new posts could be generated).
  • The number of posts in the ecchi threads will be hindered as double post is no longer allowed. Seeing as the ecchi thread is the most popular thread on FTV and generates significant traffic, stifling the thread is not the best idea.
  • If people want to hand in work/discuss points for webzine/FTV subbing team it could be problem.
  • Vote closing/opening for the FTV power ranking and the FTV League will become problematic without double posts.
I suppose daft could make exceptions to those threads but seeing as there is no massive double posting problem on FTV. I see very little reason to remove the feature. In my eyes this move will do more harm than good. Much like how the delete button was removed.

Monsta-san did bring up a fairly accurate point about that. Although I think what Kit is trying to get at may be the accidental double postings.

Although as of late when I post and I get the so called boo-boo error here I just go back to the point where I was about to post in the said thread and just refreshed the page. normally it comes up unless it did something wierd, but that's rather rare.

The problem is with users who have not been around as long. When they see an error message they go back and submit it again. Those who have been here long enough know the system significantly better than a new user who is posting their first time.

This thread is getting way off topic.

I'm sure that if Daft were to implement a system to prevent double posting, it would be something along the lines of checking your last post time and if it was within 24 hours and no replies have been made, permission will be denied. If your post was over 24 hours ago, it will be allowed. Or something along those lines. I doubt Daft would miss such an obvious flaw, give him some credit, Monsta.
That said, I'm sure that Moderators (FTV Team Members) would be able to bypass the rule if they so desired, so many of your points would be invalid. The rule could also be removed from the Tokyo Art Dome - or specifically the Gallery section of the Tokyo Art Dome.

Although for some reason I'd say 24 hours is abit too long if you ask me. I'd say something around te line of it being either 6 - 12 hours tops. I mean I don't think someone would actualy go to such lengths and abuse the whole double posting.

Although I have to agre with langes-san's words and say we've gone way off of the topic on this thread. So why don't we either start a new thread about this and close this one so things will be easier for everyone.

lol, real quick, final note, EVERY person who's posted here so far has been of at least Sempais status xD

Anyway, maybe we can get some word from Daft about the Report button - how long it's been around, why only on no or low post members, and so on. I'd like to hear what all is going on in terms of development here.
