Some commentry on all of the above - basically what has happened is that an Anti-piracy organisation in Europe has decided to send a DMCA (copyright / take down) notice for one of the episode pages for a Crunchyroll streaming Anime. Yes, you are reading that right, they are demanding we remove both the screenshot and the link to official, legal, fully licensed and endorsed anime streaming. A screenshot that we don't even host, its hosted by Crunchyroll. A site called FANSUB TV, that links to OFFICAL streaming, is ordered to remove that, of all the items on this site, thats what they want removed. Frankly the utter stupidity of this both infuriates me and makes me want to give up on these stupid Anime companies entirely. The years of work I have put into trying to make a system that only used offical anime sources, and the one and only take down I have EVER recieved, is sent for the part of the site that is official and fully legal. I should of just left it doing Fansubs like back in the original days of Daft, clearly they don't mind that ! Not only that, but they don't even bother to contact me via the site or email address provided, insted they send an official legal complaint direct to my host - ie trying to get the server shutdown. I even tried to email them, to explain they have this all wrong - but they don't even reply to my mail. I even contacted Crunchyroll, no reply yet.
I honestly do not know what to do now, if we're going to get DMCA hits for linking to official streams, that just means theres nothing at all that can be used for anime updates. Sadly this also means I'll have to remove pretty much the entire old part of the site, all of the streaming, all of the anime data bases, and litterally all that will be left is the forum, blogs and karaoke. I can't continue to run the site in the face of DMCA notices, the hosting provider will only tollerate a small number, and then I'll be forced to move hosts until they contact that one.
