Also, for the military base they did explain the lack of security since it does sound like the town this is in is one of those towns that like ot divulge in the paranormal it would seem.

They also said that when Star Trek is on security drops by 33%

As for me, I'm not a huge fan of overly sized huu huus

however toss in hot girls with guns, a bookworm girl who can fight like a cyborg ninja, a Shelby Cobra GT500 (with a few added features) and cat girls from another planet; I think there's more than enough material to make up for what may be lacking common sense wise.

I mean, if this series got 24 episodes, then perhaps they could have dragged out what the first 2 episodes flew by us. As long as they don't do 9-10 episodes of pure fan service, and squeeze everything into the final episode, I think there's still hope for the direction.

Indeed like they did with the catgirl series that they had for this spring. It felt like that was going nowere after the 3rd episode and it ended like it was just some random ecchi show that had no plot.

Well for some ecchi series they do tend to have a direction in which the viewers kind of know where this series will lead off to... more or less.
tongue.gif

So as long as they have a clear cut direction and not place massive filler/fanservice for most of it until the final episodes I think this might turn out to be a rather interesting catgirl series yet.

This series... I can't not watch it for some reason.

The battle at the end of 2 had me so dumbfounded I couldn't lol, when I wanted to.

QUOTE In any case for people that don't want thier first contact to be with sexy catgirls I have this question to pose. What's wrong with having a sexy ailen that is fairly close to what we look like, I mean seriously people. rolleyes.gif

They're probably Lovecraftians and all that.

As for the "bitches" [lol], I'm guessing the main bitch will be a part of the harem, fighting with catgirl over the male lead making the story go like "THE FATE OF THE WORLD IS AT STAKE, WHO WILL HE CHOOSE?" etc.
Just a guess though.

On the uncle, my guess is that he "that" type of character. You know, the ones that seem to be out of the loop or idiotic but turn out to know a lot. Besides, he's the one who introduced her to Kio. He could be plotting something, like getting his niece a harem.

1. Kios childhoodfriend, teacher and whoever are betreaying him and it doesnt matter to him oO Yeah how believable

Which is something prevalent in a lot of series. Good guys tend to be "too" good.

QUOTE
1.) Hot girls
2.) Lots of guns
3.) Catgirls

More like, this show has every turn on for men:

Cars
Military Hardware [Small Arms, Armor, Helis]
Girls fitting various fetishes
References [Well not really a turn on]
Fanservice [Too bad it's cockblocked by incessant censorship]

On why the townsfolk don't find catgirls weird, I'm guessing it's a play on rural folk. They're prolly thinking, "what a weird looking girl", "she's prolly from the city", stuff like that.

Finally, my impressions from ep. 2. I fear it might end up like last season's Ichiban Ushiro Daimaou, and have pacing as its main issue aside from the censorship and the lack of logical fiber to bind the messed up plot. It could also go in reverse with the plot being rushed and fanservice fillers for later episodes.

The reason for the very fast pace is that they might be planning to rush through a good portion of the light novels. Will they attempt a S2 once the novel series finishes? Who knows?

I don't know if I'll still watch this right now, but I'll probably watch the uncensored version. I wonder if they're actually homaging Metal Gear and Gunsmith Cats.

If the animation studio wanted to emulate the light novels, there are better ways than to rush through all of them in one season. Full Metal Panic has done rather well when Kyoto Animation split up most of the finished written work into three television series. Although I don't have access to the light novels, authors, in multi-volume series, tend to create a story that is episodic in nature to balance the need to create interest in the reader to buy the next volume when it comes out, but also finishing plot lines for their to be a break in the action.

Authors that I read that do this are R.A. Salvatore, Ed Greenwood, Robert Jordan, Raymond Feist, Orson Scott Card, George R.R. Martin, and Isaac Asimov. If anybody enjoys reading fantasy or science fiction novels, I highly recommend the authors.

From the first two episodes, the art directors, directors, writers, and producers were too ambitious and tried to reach to too many market segments instead of focusing on a market niche. What the audience is left with to view is an awful tasting soup with ingredients that conflict with one another.

It's great in theory, and if a company has a contract for future seasons it would work. However, there's a big trend of series only running a 12-13 episode season before a company moves on. What's left is a studio having to make a decision on where to cut and take liberties on.

I agree with you completely that series like FMP worked out great when spread across multiple season or as I point to with many series; spread it out over 24 episodes. Allowing story arcs to form, allowing a breather between conflicts or story plots gives the audience a chance to enjoy the characters instead of the story.

However, I tend to believe that many anime studios tend to swing towards how US companies mess up video game to movie transitions; they either feel a rehashing of the manga/light novel story won't make for good ratings or they feel they need to tell a different story using the same characters while hoping to capture an audience. If they'd simply hire on the original author instead of trying to rewrite what worked, they'd probably tell the story better.

You know, it's funny. I had an extremely hard time following the storyline when watching the first 5 episodes of Bakemonogatari. I neglected the series up till now because the storytelling (to me) was awkward and at times lost me completely. Yet there are many people here that loved it. Personally, I'm giving this series a chance because it has broken away from the norm thus far. If it dives later than I'll drop it. I think people tend to forget what a wise man once said:

Ok with episode 3 I have to say this about it. It seems that the ero mags that Kyo has around the house have been misunderstood for what is the norm for our catgirl crew.

Also, I was right that this is all over you made contact with the humans first it would seem. Although it only seems that way on the doggie side of the fence. Also, why am I suddenly reminded of You're Uner Arrest here with this episode now?

In any case it looks liek the DVD/BlueRays are going to sell rather well if they clear up the massive censoring here.

It's decided........... I GOTZ TO GET ME ONE OF THOSE ASSISTROIDS!

I thought it was so adorable how they talk with signs and I laughed so hard with the interaction between Kio and #6. And #17 in a car seat had me chuckling as well.

It felt this episode moved at a pretty steady, if not quick pace. It didn't seem to drag and built off of the last episode to start developing what will probably be the eventual conflict. Censoring aside, it was pretty funny to watch IMO.

I do see a hint of Your Under Arrest in there Kid-Wolf, however I still think Gunsmith Cats fits better considering how gun-ho the two are. The pairing does match up though with one being a bit more feminine and the other being more of the brawns.

What I didn't expect though was the explanation about Aoi. From what they shown in episode 1, I thought her materialization methods for her weaponry came from the power suit she wore. To find out she can materialize anything within a radius was unexpected. I began wondering if her birth was extraterrestrial or more supernatural in nature given she was supposedly born with the ability.

It wasnt as bad as I thought it could be.

The other cats werent really long to be seen, so its good that they dont make the cast too big. Even though the Captain really was hot
tongue.gif

Seems like other than the doggy-faction there is another cat faction on earth. I wonder what they want to accomplish. And I think its the first time I saw a dog-girl. Not that bad either.

Overall you could describe the situation complex and confusing ^^

i really do like this show. i think its a fun and fast paced anime with a bunch of cute girls . i think aio is my favorite chick in this show . shes so bad ass and hawt lol and i normaly dont go for the washboard charaters but her bad assness makes up for it . next fav has to be eris shes just awesome lol

Ok with epsiode 4 it's more along the line of if you've been paying attention to anime series you could of caught a few cameo appearances. The most blatent one was the Sacred Boobsmith... er I mean Blacksmith walk-on. Other then that the one thing I said in another thread I'll say it in this one as well. They really, really next to make the 4th season of Louise soon.

Well with the cameos aside, it seems that there are the dogs which happens to have a very interesting looking doggirl and what looks like the Nekomimi Aliance that are just hardcore nekomimi lovers. Gez even with the maids I could of swarn that one of them looked overly familiar, but I can't place her correctly since I think that one brainwashed me.
tongue.gif

Aside from all of that seeing that the two girls have Asistriods is kind of interesting as of now. Besides they look rather interesting when they try and interact with each other and thier owners as well.

i think episode 4 had some funny moments like when aio's asistriod went into commiting suicide mode for failing to do what aio asked them to do lol. also i have to say thoughs cat lovers are freaken insane man. i give it to this anime for having a bunch of crazy organization groups in it . also i have to say the doggy girl is pretty hawt lol

I said it before and I'll say it again: I gotz to get me one of those AssistDroids!!!!
biggrin.gif

I've been pretty impressed with this anime thus far. It's been moving the plot along at a good pace and tossing in decent amounts of comedy, action and not overly doing the fan service. They seem to be balancing everything just right so far.

I think the next episode will be fairly critical for Kio. Will he start showing signs of being the wishy~washy lead male character or will he stand up like he did in episode 2? And what will evolve from this (other) secret society that's surfaced? I want next week to be here already!

OK, I finally feel like I have a pulse on this series now, and have adjusted to the pace. I tried to take it too seriously from ep 1 and 2.

I guess I can accept it for what it is and enjoy it. Not the best in the world, but not boring either. Just qualifies as good old entertainment. If every series was like Shiki I'd have to limit myself to 3 series a season, so these relaxer anime have their place...just like R+V or TLRu.

It's good to be able to laugh, shake your head and do the occasional palm to forehead slap while saying "no they didn't!"

Animes like these need to not be taken seriously and can be great tension relievers since they escape the norms of reality and allow the viewer to see an unrealistic view of the world. It's nice to have serious anime series that are gripping and have you on the edge of your seat, however if that was the norm of every series that came out, it would get old and stale. Much like how people view every fan service anime; they say something like "Oh no... here's another series full of panty shots and bouncing boobs...." or something like that. While this series does have it's share of ecchiness, it also seems to have balanced it out with action, comedy and drama and it's working. (so far)

I'd hope more people can adopt the view you gained upon this series. It's an anime that can't be taken seriously because it goes against reality and favors moving the story along instead of explaining why "normal" people can so casually accept the obvious.

episode 4 felt so wrong in so many ways and these three images describes the episode exactly:

Anyways the episode ends with a cliffhanger and to be honest, aside from all the cameos, this episode was really boring. The cool part was all the little robots though, including Aoi's and Manami's new ones

Ok with episode 5 I have to say that it would seem that eventually in the next few episodes the whole gang will know that the dog race was also here but kept themselves under wraps until now that is. As for our little rich girl why do I get this feelingt hat she'll be an addition to Kyo's home now? I just hope I'm wrong on that part, since it may become rather problematic.

I any case when I saw that director I was suddenly reminded of the angel from Macademi Washoi there. I wonder if that was just me though.

Well...I only got this to say...Minami and Aoi in bikini...what a huge contrast (in bust size!) lol

A pretty nice ep. Especially with Kio and Eris changing clothes, I never wouldve thought that that would work XD I guess Kio cant war his shirt anymore after beeing bend out by Eris breasts ^^

Manami was great in the bikini too, really hot. She could wear that more often.
But somehow I had the feeling the producers dont like Momiji. I cant see another reason to make her that ugly in a bikini.

I dont know why, but I begin to think that the doggy-woman looks the best in the series. Shes a totally turn-on in my eyes.
And her dimension-travelling rockets are just great ^^

But Sara and Maya were hot too. And I though the founder would be way more bitchie instead of understanding.

@kid: Yeah I wouldnt be surprised if shes part of the harem now too.
