I thought I was misreading something in a sleep haze when I first opened my webbrowser this morning and saw that Arslan Senki's got a new serialization illustrated by none other than Hiromu Arakawa. blink.gif

Anyone else familiar with the series?

I'm excited to hopefully finally see the end of this story after close to 20 years.

It's been a long time since I looked into the real world information behind it, so I won't try to get into the real world history/mythology behind it:

Arslan Senki is a long war epic about Pars (ancient persia) in it's battle against the Lusitanian force invading it. The gentle mannered 14 year old crown prince Arslan goes off to participate in the war with his father, and the Lusitanians defeat the Pars army with a mixture of magic and treachery. Arslan is escorted away from the battle field by one of his generals, while Pars falls to the Lusitanians. The story covers Arslan in his efforts to gather an army and recapture his homeland.

Most of the places in it are real places, and as the story spreads it encompasses the entire region.
