Every now and then when I view my profile it looks as if my postcount gets lower or stays the same even after posting the next day/whenever.

Do posts get randomly/accidentily deleted? Am I imagining things? Do profiles not get updated for an ammount of time? Do I have an assasin after my posts?

(most likely).

Post are not deleted unless they are against the rules.
When that happens, the moderator will usually leave a note and/or send a PM

This means your post count should not "magically decrease".

If you could make some screen shots of a "before and after" we might be able to confirm what is happening and find a solution. A glitch is always possible although unlikely in this case.

Well, I haven't gotten any mail about it.

I guess I could take a screen shot now and wait and see if it happens again, but my task bar doesn't show the date, just the time, so if I took a screen shot, it would just look like I rearranged the order of of my posts from more to less.

This probably isn't the problem, but there is an exception to the note/PM rule. If you post in the Spam Reports thread, those posts are deleted by a mod once the issue is taken care of. But I can't think of any other thread where that is done, so unless you've been reporting a lot of spam, probably not your issue.

Although, regarding spam .... if you ever replied to a spam post, that may have been deleted without warning. At least when I clean up threads, I only send a notice to the spammer, but try to leave a note in the thread about it.

So it could just be that the mod was busy when deleting. But if you're losing a lot of posts, it could be a glitch.

I'm not quite sure what you guys mean by 'glitch' in this sense, but I haven't reported any spam or replied to a spam post. If I had replied to a spam post, all I ever see is the topic being locked and the topic message edited. So unless lock means that it doesn't count as my post anymore, I haven't recognized any post's dissappearences except the number which decreased.

If I have any more problems I can just take screen shots like Bold suggested.

QUOTE (tonifreyr @ May 11 2007, 07:32 PM) did you consider the fact that there's a counter for how many posts a day? maybe youre wieving the wrong one!
No, I viewed this in my profile:

Total Cumulative Posts 88
( 0.06% of total forum posts )

And acctually the post before this one was suppose to be my 89th considering yesterday it was 87 and I had made a post before this last one.

Sorry to double post:

This one was taken at 6:44PM:

In 'find all posts' it'll say a post was made at 6:43PM.

This one was taken at 9:11PM:

In 'find all posts' it'll say a post was made at 9:10PM.

45% to 44%, and it stays at 88.

This may just be a slow update, but I'm pretty sure the stuff in the profile is automatic. Other than that it had said 87 again just a minute before I posted the one at 9:10PM.

Ehem...do you know that the posts in the Troubleshoot and Support Section are NOT counted to the total amount of post?
------------------------
And that percentage decreased because you post in the forum which is not your "main active" place, which is General Discourse. To raise this percentage, you have to post in the general Discourse section only. Posting in other section (including troubleshoot section) might result in decreasing that number.
But, the total cumulative posts that you made still the same, which is 0.06%, because posting in troubleshoot section will not raise your post count. (it will not decrease either).

Anyway, I think this is just misunderstanding about the posts data. Well, feel free to ask if you still not understand...

Well now I know about that, but it had happened before when inbetween posts in the games and general section as well. Also once in the thoughtful section.

QUOTE (daft27 @ May 12 2007, 06:09 AM) Not all posts are counted towards your post count either.
So then in other words posts aren't randomly deleted, but randomly un-counted?

Maybe not randomly, but basically, yes. Every time you post, do not assume it will be added to your post count. Every post in this thread, for example, has not contributed to anyone's post count.

So unless your Total Cumulative Posts is declining, you are not actually losing posts.

Well if it's random all over the board, I guess maybe the only time my post count decreased must have been when I replied to a topic that got deleted then.

Thank you very much for your help.
